Position description
Is responsible for educating patients, care givers and clinicians on services offered through Mayo Clinic Specialty Pharmacy. Obtains and reviews patient benefit information and discusses the patient's financial responsibility for services. Coordinates patient discharge prescription process and serves as a resource to other Allied Health personnel, physicians, and administrative staff. Must be knowledgeable and resourceful in obtaining financial assistance options for patients (e.g.co-pay assistance cards, foundations, etc.). Possesses strong customer service, interpersonal, and problem solving skills and utilizes these skills in interactions with patients and internal customers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years experience promoting healthcare related services for a variety of medical specialties OR associate degree and 5 years experience promoting healthcare related services for a variety of medical specialties is required. The position requires knowledge of healthcare delivery and relationships between clinics, hospitals and ancillary services. Candidates must have experience providing direct patient care/services and working with health care providers.
Additional qualifications
Excellent knowledge and experience in the provision of pharmaceutical services, including knowledge of reimbursement for pharmaceutical products for patients with chronic illnesses is required. Qualified candidate must possess superior customer service, problem solving, and organizational skills. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate clearly and succinctly. Strong computer skills needed with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Tact and sensitivity necessary in handling challenging issues (e.g. patients challenged with financial responsibilities, contacting patients in hospital room, etc.). Must have the ability to travel up to 25% of time.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $21.95 per hour.
