About the Role: We are looking for experienced New Product Development Engineers to join our teams within the Medical Products Division, Fabrics Division, Performance Solutions Division (PSD), and Core Technology in Elkton, Maryland. Product development opportunities in PSD span industries such as aerospace, automotive, mobile electronics, and oil & gas, as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications. Our Core Technology teams partner with our divisions to deliver polymer solutions for our divisions. As a New Product Development Engineer at Gore, you will leverage your technical knowledge to develop and commercialize new products, materials, and processes that are highest quality in their class. By collaborating with diverse teams, you will help deliver creative solutions that improve lives.


Responsibilities:


* Understanding the end use of products, determining fitness-for-use of materials, and effectively advancing the specification development of new and derivative products

* Driving the development and refinement of new test methods and characterization techniques in partnership with other functions

* Working hands-on to identify critical uncertainties, designing targeted experiments, rapidly building new prototypes, defining and assessing fitness-for-use, and analyzing data to drive commercialization and scale up

* Collaborating with up-stream processes, existing businesses, and our emerging product platforms to identify and assess the feasibility of new market opportunities and new technologies

* Understanding and evaluating performance of relevant competitive product alternatives

* Obtaining intellectual property protection (patents, trade secrets, etc.)

* Continuously developing your engineering skills through formal training provided by Gore and coaching/mentoring provided by your leaders and teammates

 


Required Qualifications:


* Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field with at least 3 years of experience in process, product, or new product/ materials development post-graduation

* Knowledge of experimental design and ability to apply statistics to drive data based decision making

* Demonstrated ability to:

* Critically and creatively apply knowledge of engineering fundamentals to product development and challenging technical problems

* Prioritize, plan, and drive multiple projects concurrently from development to completion against agreed upon timelines and deliverables

* Document, communicate, and present technical bodies of work

* Effectively interact and influence cross-functional teams, as well as work independently

* Work hands-on in all aspects of project work


* Willingness to sign IP and Confidentiality agreements

* Ability to travel periodically (<10%)

Desired Qualifications:


* A minimum of 5 years’ experience developing new processes to support product development

* Experience in ePTFE membrane development

* Experience working within a quality system
