The position is for a market development manager in the USA to establish a market presence for Yokogawa’s new upstream bioprocess technologies. With a focus on process control and automation, Yokogawa’s next generation bioreactor systems are designed for process development labs and manufacturing of biopharmaceutical (mainly mono-clonal antibody drugs). The candidate will manage multiple domestic strategic alliance partners to assure proper customer support, and drive sales to meet or exceed forecasts. Activities will include new product introductions, training, customer visits with partner sales representatives and other managerial responsibilities (budgeting, networking, marketing, quotations, collaborations, etc.) to build Yokogawa’s image and market presence in the biopharmaceutical industry in the USA. Initially independent, the job will eventually include increasing coordination with Yokogawa Corporation of America to build future infrastructure and introduce manufacturing and laboratory automation systems, among other legacy systems and instruments.


Education: University Degree in Science, preferably Cell Biology, Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering.

Experience: Extensive Sales or Business Development experience; preferably in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.

Should have a working knowledge of mammalian cell culture for biologic expression, drug discovery and development.

The candidate must be able to manage long-term and complex collaborations with customers and alliance partners.

A technical understanding of biologic drug development, bioreactor systems, and basic engineering principles.

A good candidate will be self-motivated, high energy and capable of working independently to identify and pursue new business opportunities

A good candidate will have an international mindset and cultural sensitivity, speak clearly, be fluent in English and be easily understood by international colleagues (especially from Japan).

A good candidate will be organized, methodical, and a good listener and communicator; someone who can establish trust and respect with key customers.

A personality and character effective for selling, negotiating, collaborating.

Travel USA domestically (30-50%) for creating and nurturing relationships.

The preferred location to live and work from a home office is in Boston or California.
