UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a DAY SHIFT, FULL TIME, ANESTHESIA TECHNICIAN. The Anesthesia Technician provides technical and clinical assistance, under the direction of an anesthesiologist, in monitoring and preparing the patient for anesthesia, within the Operating Room and/or in other departments within the hospital.

  • Assists the Anesthesiologist with intubation and extubation, assists with placements of invasive lines, sets up cell savers, assists with positioning patients during regional blocks
  • Transports patients to ICU; connects monitoring and ventilation devices, prepares and operates anesthesia equipment such as blood gas analyzers, patient monitors, and ventilators
  • Plugs in gases and scavenging,  places clean CO2 tubing on CO2 monitors and calibrates O2 sensors
  • Reports clear information to surgical team and anesthesiologist
  • Checks par levels and expiration dates for pharmaceuticals and supplies, places orders and picks up from pharmacy or stores as necessary
  • Stocks carts with supplies, delivers anesthesia carts to appropriate OR, secures Anesthesia carts and Anesthesia workroom supplies at end of shift
  • Coordinates and collaborates effectively with other members of a multi-disciplinary team, provides constructive feedback and supports team-based care

  • High school diploma or GED
  • BLS Certification
  • At least one year experience in a related operating room or healthcare position

  • Associate degree in related field (RN, LPN, or EMT preferable)
  • Anesthesia Tech Certification preferred
